Best Manga Aggregators: Sites Where You Can Read Manga for Free
If you just want a no-frills way to read manga, manhwa, and manhua online, whether on your device or a public one, these sites will do the trick. You can pull them up right in your browser, mobile browsers included.
Manga Fire
With all other top dogs getting taking down or going through rough patches, Manga Fire remains one of the more consistent sites, with a large library for your reading pleasure.
Weeb Central
Despite its rather unfortunate name, Weeb Central is currently one of the best sites for reading free manga, manhwa, and manhua.
MangaBall
MangaBall features a huge library, with translations in dozens of languages. It's definitely a go-to site, even more so if you speak a language other than English/Spanish/Portuguese/French, etc.
Comix
Comix is a new site that sprang up after the fall of ComicK. No, they're not related, and the Comix library has room to grow, but it's still one of the better free manga sites.
MangaReader
From the same creators as popular anime streaming site, HiAnime, comes MangaReader. One of the biggest things that stands out about this site is its slick, easy-to-use interface.
Best Manga Torrent Trackers: Sites Where You Can Download Manga for Free
In general, some of the best anime torrenting sites are also some of the best torrent sites for manga. This includes:
- Nyaa:
- Anime Finder
- AniDex
As usual, Nyaa, is the go-to torrent site for all things manga and anime. You’ll mostly find official (high-quality) rips here, not as many scanlations.
Of course, you can also use the apps below to download manga, whether specific chapters or entire series, directly to your device for offline reading.
Best Manga Readers: Apps Where You Can Read and Download Manga for Free
If you’re an avid manga reader using your own device, you may want to “upgrade” to a full-fledged manga app, like the ones we’ll recommend below.
They provide a much better experience, with the ability to save and follow your favorite series, download chapters, view your reading history, and more.
For Android – Mihon
Mihon is currently the top dog of manga apps, with great functionality and a ton of extensions. However, it’s only available for Android, so check out the alternatives below if you’re using an Apple product – or your computer.
For iOS – Tachnimanga
While Tachnimanga isn’t quite as popular or well-regarded as Mihon, it’s built on the same framework as Mihon – and is a perfectly competent alternative for those of you using iOS.
Desktop / Laptop – Suwayomi
If you prefer to read manga on your desktop or laptop, you’ll need a different app. That’s where Suwaymoi, which is based on the now defunct Tachidesk, comes in.
Extensions for Mihon and Other Manga Readers
In order to actually use the apps above to read and download manga, you’ll need to download an extension (or extensions).
These are supported by various sites and sources – including MangaDex, ComicK, and MangaReader – and allow you to access their catalog directly through the app. You can even find extensions that specialize in manhwa or manhua.
There are a few different places to find these extensions, but Keiyoushi is one of the best databases. Simply find the extension(s) you want, download them, and add them to Mihon or whatever app you’re using.
Can I Still Use Tachiyomi?
Unfortunately, the once-popular Tachiyomi ceased development in early January 2024. This was sad news for manga readers, but the good news is that the apps above are “forks” of Tachiyomi, with most of the same functionality – and using the same extensions.
That makes them excellent Tachiyomi alternatives.
