Society of the Snow – January 4th

This Spanish-language thriller (the original title is La Sociedad de la Nieve) documents the infamous 1972 Andes mountain plane crash which left a rugby team fighting for survival. It debuts on Netflix on January 4th but has already been drawing Oscar buzz.

Good Grief – January 5th

From the mind of Dan Levy, one of the stars of Shitt’s Creek, this brand new series will be available to stream on January 5th.

Lift – January 12th

For your monthly crime and comedy fix, check out this new heist film starring Kevin Hart.

Griselda – January 25th

But if you prefer your crime shows a little more intense, this one stars Sofia Vergara as Griselda Blanco, the infamous female cocaine kingpin.

What’s Coming to (HBO) Max in January?

True Detective: Night Country – January 14th

True Detective’s fourth season – and the first not directed by the show’s creator, Nic Pizzolatto – stars Jodie Foster and is set in frigid Alaska, quite the departure from the first season’s Louisiana roots.

What’s Coming to Amazon Prime in January?

James May: Our Man in India – January 5th

In the third installment of this popular series, catch host James May as he travels to the Indian subcontinent.

Expats – January 26th

Head to Hong Kong this January with this series based on the novel The Expatriates and starring Nicole Kidman.

What’s Coming to Disney+ in January?

Echo – January 10th

This new Marvel series has a TV-MA rating and focuses on Maya Lopez, who was introduced in Hawkeye. But Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) and Daredevil (Charlie Cox) both make appearances as well.

A Real Bug’s Life – January 24th

If you’ve seen the 1998 Pixar film A Bug’s Life, this is the sequel… kind of. Disney’s partnered with National Geographic to give us a look at the real life of bugs.

What’s Coming to Hulu in January?

Self-Reliance – January 12th

Jake Johnson directs and stars in this comedy thriller about a dangerous reality show, which also features Anna Kendrick and Andy Samberg.

Death and Other Details – January 16th

Who doesn’t love a little mystery? This whodunit series takes place on a luxury cruise liner and debuts on Hulu on January 16th.

Mike Judge and Zach Woods (Silicon Valley) team up for Peacock’s first adult animated series. Check out the first season starting January 25th.

Sexy Beast – January 25th (Paramount+)

Coincidentally, there’s another prequel series to look out for, but this one is based on the British gangster movie released back in 2000.

Masters of the Air – January 26th (Apple TV+)

Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks team up for a new WW2 series about a Flying Fortress bomber. It’ll be available on Apple TV starting January 26th.


Sundance Film Festival – January 18th

Stream this year’s Sundance Film Festival from home. The event will run from January 18 to 28 and offer a few different options for streaming.

The End We Start From – January 19th (Paramount+)

A mother tries to survive a flooded world after disaster strikes. Catch it on Paramount Plus in mid January.


NFL Playoffs – January 13th

This year’s National Football League playoffs kick off with the Wild Card Round on January 13th, including one game that will be streaming exclusively on Peacock. The next rounds will play out on January 20th and 28th, in the lead up to the Super Bowl in February.
