Sure, it’s still up, but it’s no secret that loads of former users are on the hunt for MangaDex alternatives, given its depleted library and questionable management. If that’s you, we’ve got you covered.
In fact, you may even find you like these sites better than the original. Keep reading to find out more.
What Happened to MangaDex?
It all started in May 2025, when MangaDex decided to honor a huge series of DMCA takedown notices, removing thousands of titles from their site, including many of the most popular manga series.
This was already a huge blow that left users looking for other sites to use.
Since then, MangaDex has been shifting to a more corporate model, with critics calling them the “new CrunchyRoll”. This has led to more, voluntary takedowns, like purging “loli” content in early 2026.
A Quick Note on Safety
Manga aggregation sites operate in a gray area and their reliability can change without warning.
These sites stay online through ads, pop‑ups and tracking scripts, so your IP address and browsing activity can be visible to them. If you want to reduce how much data these sites collect about you, using a reputable VPN can help by masking your IP address and encrypting your connection.
With that out of the way, here are the MangaDex alternatives that are still online and working reliably. All of them let you read manga without an account and each one has its own strengths depending on what you are looking for, whether that’s speed, a clean interface or a large catalog.
Best MangaDex Alternatives
If MangaDex just isn’t scratching that itch like it used to and you’re looking for a new spot to find the newest release or just read your favorite series, these MangaDex alternatives will serve you well.
WeebDex: Most Similar MangaDex Alternative
If you’d like to keep that same MangaDex feel and UI, then WeebDex is worth checking out. It’s still a young site, with not nearly the library size of OG MangaDex, but it’s clearly inspired and has a similar look. Heck, just look at the name.
MangaFire
Like MangaDex, MangaFire is a veteran in its own right on the manga scene. But unlike MangaDex, it’s still going as strong as ever, making it a legit alternative.
MangaBall: Popular MangaDex Alternative
MangaBall offers a huge library across a variety of languages, allowing independent uploads from scanlators, which will make it familiar to fans of MangaDex in its heyday.
Comix
Comix has a lot going for it, from a sizable library to a sleek interface. That being said, it does lack the multi-language support found on MangaBall, offering English releases only.
Weeb Central
Last but not least on our list of MangaDex alternatives is Weeb Central, formerly known as Manga See and Manga4Life. If you’re on the hunt for high-quality official translations, give them a look.
MangaDex Alternatives: Wrap-Up
Now, we can’t promise that these alternatives are just the same. But many of them are newer sites, with plenty of room to grow. And in the meantime, you’ll find tons of manga, manhwa, and manhua to read.
